Decoders with No network interface
Older decoders used serial rs232 connections to a computer to pass on the data recieved from kart passings.
A more modern way of communicting is through the network infastructure which means that you dont have to have a computer near the decoder and the data can be transmitted a lot further.
USB was also introduced in some decoders which has the same limitations about the distance between the decoder and the computer.
Replacing your timing hardware while a good investment is also exspensive as most of the time your transponders will need replacing as well.
We have designed the software to be able to connect to decoders using either Ethernet, USB or serial connections.
One way of upgrading a serial connection to ethernet so that it can be accessible on a network is to use a converter.
Moxa produce a single and multiple converers that will allow a serial device to communicate over a network. This has the advantage of not having to upgrade your decoder while getting the benefit of a better cabling structure
Once installed and setup your decoder information will be avaiable via the network settings in the software.
